Phineas and Ferb created by Jeff “Swampy” Marsh and Dan Povenmire (2007)
genre: Humor, fantasy
rating: TVG
honors: Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Writing in Animation (2010)
review: During the course of a summer, two stepbrothers make the most of everyday by creating some amazing contraption—from sky-high roller coasters, snow in summer for “swinter,” and huge jumpy bounce houses. For some irrational reason their older (step)sister is bent on getting them in trouble for this activity, but never can show the proof of their efforts. The show also touches on their pet platypus, Perry, who is a secret agent and nemesis to evil Dr. Doofenschmirtz.
opinion: My kids love this show, and when I sat down to watch it with them I could easily understand the draw. Phineas and Ferb come up with the best, funnest-looking things with the help of their friends Isabella, Baljeet and Buford. I can’t understand what Candice’s issue is, but I enjoy watching her plans for “busting” her brothers continually fall apart. Also I love to hear what one sentence Ferb will say during each episode.
ideas: This is like The Dangerous Book for Boys in an animated format—great fun for all boys.
