Tracking Bigfoot: An Isabel Soto investigation by Terry Collins (Capstone Press, 2010)
genre: Graphic novel, adventure
age: 9-12 years
honors: none
review: Archeologist Isabel Soto is on the the case of Bigfoot. Using the W.I.S.P.—a device to get her to any place or any time in history—she’s in the Pacific Northwest determined to get to the bottom of the mystery of the legendary, mythical creature.
opinion: Isabel Soto is to history, what Carmen San Diego was to geography. In this graphic novel, she’s been called into help solve the mystery of Bigfoot. Throughout the book, there are side bars explaining terms like Cryptozoology, the native names for the creature and compares the evidence to the evidence of the past.
ideas: By delving into the area of Cryptozoology, students can research other mythical animals like the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot or chupacabras.
